Zarkana, the newest acrobatic spectacle from Cirque du Soleil, will begin performances at Radio City Music Hall on June 9, 2011. The show, created especially for the iconic theater, is being written by film and theater director François Girard (The Red Violin, Silk), who will also direct. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through September 4.
Zarkana (a fusion of the words “bizarre” and “arcana”) is a fantastically bizarre world in which audiences follow the adventures of Zark, a magician who has lost his love and, with her, his powers. As he cries and begs for her return he is plunged into a world inhabited by surreal creatures.
Before Zarkana arrives in New York, Cirque du Soleil's winter-themed family spectacle, Wintuk, will return for a fourth and final season at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. The production begins November 17 and will play through January 2, 2011.
